ISSUE 3 has been really fun to format and create. In an effort to continue to grow and form the best, most affordable, reading experience possible, we used new programs for both printing and e-reading. We hope you enjoy our efforts.
The Faithful Creative wouldn't be possible without our beloved contributors. We're so grateful for their efforts, support, and inspiration. We want to celebrate them the best we can, so please give a warm welcome to the writers of ISSUE 3!
Amye Still is an energetic southern girl with a deep love for coffee, college football and connecting with people in authentic community! She is a speaker and writer working on her first book, Brave Hope: Daring to Break Free From the Cycle of Disappointment. Amye spent the better part of two decades working in corporate America as the COO of a multimillion-dollar company and the Executive Director of the Women of Hope program at the St. Louis Dream Center, an outreach of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Recently she decided to leave the 9 to 5 and pursue her real passion of becoming an International Speaker and Author, encouraging and empowering people to live in a place of freedom from hopelessness. Amye is passionate about cracking open the bible to reveal the truth of God’s word regarding how we should handle setbacks and disillusionment. When Amye is not writing or speaking she is most likely curled up with a cup of coffee and a good book, spending time with friends and family, or enjoying her new found love for running.
Katie Coughran is a multi-genre author of the Clean & Quirky Romance series, Fantasy, and Chapter Books. Born in Queens, NY and raised in sandy Florida, Christina Dwivedi wanted to be a mermaid when she grew up. When reality kicked in, she pursued a degree in Sociology from USF in Tampa. She's been a stay at home mom for several years now, squeezing writing in along the way. After a few years in Birmingham, AL, she now calls Cary, NC home. Her heart lies with children's fiction. Traveling with her husband and two sons is a big part of her life, whether it's locally or to India to visit in-laws. Her experiences from the North, the South, and India find their way into her writing. Coffee and grace fuel her days.
Maude Washington is from Belcher, Louisiana but now resides in San Antonio, Texas. She discovered her love for poetry at eight years old. Robert Krantz graduated from the University of Akron (OH) with a BA in English. His individual works have appeared in Gargoyle, The Inflectionist, Pittsburgh Poetry Review and others. He makes his living as an industrial sales engineer in the Midwest.
Because we here at The Faithful Creative are proud supporters of our military and their families, we were thrilled when author Kathy Maggart agreed to share her book The 1947 Freedom Train with us. Inside this issue, Kathy expresses her heart for sharing patriotism and history with children.
Co-author Kathy Maggart began working with children from the earliest years of babysitting and has fond memories of reading aloud to her younger siblings amidst shared laughter. After she became the mother of her own daughter and son, Kathy created a part-time business as a professional storyteller- incorporating costumes, movement, and singing with guitar to help each story come alive while motivating young children to love reading.
Later on, she went back to school and earned her master’s degree in elementary education. She became a schoolteacher for many years, focusing on innovative techniques to help implement the process of learning. She taught first and second grades, with a passion for teaching young children to read.
Kathy’s patriotism is rooted in her upbringing in a Navy family. She was born on a military base in Olathe, Kansas and raised for the most part in San Diego—with a short 18-month stint on Midway Island in the South Pacific for a year of elementary school. For the first ten years of her marriage, her husband was on active duty in the U.S. Army as a Physical Therapist. Their son served in an Army Reserve Air Traffic Control Unit and spent a year on duty in Kuwait. He currently works for the F.A.A. as an Air Traffic Controller. Their daughter followed in Kathy’s footsteps as an educator and is currently a Theatre Teacher/Director, grades 6-12.
Stay tuned for the release of issue 3!
